Music Supervisor, Musical Director and Orchestrator

David is Ireland’s foremost Musical Theatre MD, with over four decades of experience and a renowned focus on lyric interpretation and acting-through-song. He was at the Royal Irish Academy of Music for over 18 years, before plunging into a busy career that to date has included work as Musical Director, Supervisor, Orchestrator, player and producer in theatre, radio, TV, and live performance.

He spent 3 years with Riverdance - The Show as Musical Director and subsequently Production Director, with responsibility for all three touring productions worldwide. In addition, he produced the soundtrack for the multi-million selling DVD - Riverdance – Live at Radio City Music Hall N.Y.

David has orchestrated ten original musical dramas – the latest being Find Your Way Home - which premiered at Symphony Hall, NYC, Angela’s Ashes – Ireland & UK Tour and 1588 A Musical Drama – based on the Spanish Armada, which premiered in a song cycle performance in Dublin, Sept 2025.

He was Musical Director and Supervisor for all five series of RTE’s The Voice and has worked with BBC NI, UTV and TG4, including several joint OB broadcasts for BBC/TG4 and played, orchestrated and conducted the RTECO and also played with the NSO.

In March 2026, he will be orchestrator, MD and conductor for the Leading Voices of Musical Theatre tour of China.

West Side Story in Concert (BGET, Dublin), Angela’s Ashes (National Tour), Fun Home (Gate Theatre, Dublin), Sondheim Festival (Watergate Theatre, Kilkenny), The Borrowers (Gate Theatre, Dublin), Little Shop of Horrors (BGET, Dublin), Ibiza Orchestral (3 Arena, Dublin), Queen Orchestral (3 Arena, Dublin), and Bloomberg Philanthropies – TCA Awards (Dublin). Additional collaborations include performances with Liz Callaway, Fra Fee, and Rachel Tucker.
