Martin Hodgson was born in Darlington, County Durham, and has been a Sound Engineer and Designer for many years. Recent Sound Designs include All Our Sons for The Rose Theatre, Kingston; an immersive production of Becketts’s Company; and The House on Cold Hill (UK Tour).
Martin was Head of Sound at Northern Stage, Newcastle, where his Design credits include 1984; Animal Farm; Romeo and Juliet; Grimm’s Tales; More Grimm’s Tales; The Princess and the Goblin; and A Clockwork Orange. Sound Designs for Live Theatre, Newcastle, include Smack Family Robinson; Toast; A Nightingale Sang; The Lovers; Keepers of the Flame (co-production with the RSC); Geoff’s Dead; Disco for Sale; Up There in Lights; Me and Cilla; Top Girls; Motherland; Blackbird; Jump!; The Pitmen Painters (National Theatre transfers to Volkstheater, Vienna and MTC Broadway); and Tyne and Capt. Amazing (Edinburgh Festival) amongst many other projects. For Bill Kenwright Productions, Martin designed The Pitmen Painters and Three Days In May for the West End and UK Tours, and the productions of The Governess and Chin Chin. For ATG, he designed The Perfect Murder; Dead Simple; and Not Dead Enough for their UK Tours.
