Louise Whitemore - A Place For We

One building in Brixton tells the story of London’s changing communities over three very different generations.

As their city moves on without them, Trinidadian funeral director Clarence and fifth generation pub owner George don’t want things to change. But everything around them is changing. Do they adapt to survive? Or stay true to their roots and risk it all... family, tradition, business?

In the wake of the Windrush scandal, this is a play about shifting communities, the traditions we choose to fight for and the ones we have to leave behind. In one moment laugh-out-loud funny and the next deeply moving, it looks at where we live, how we live and the people who struggle to live in the place they call home.

Louise Whitemore is designer on A Place For We by Talawa and Park Theatre.
